OK sports fans, you can now add countdowns to your posts, signatures, whatever. All you need is to add the following BBCODE:

<countdown>1 Jan 2006 00:00:00</countdown>

That code above sets up a countdown until Jan 1, 2006. Copy and paste it into your posts and see if it works for you. Change the < > marks to [ ]. You can obviously change the date and time to whatever you like. You can format the code with any of the normal VBcode in a message, like bold, size, font, etc. Good luck!

Test for second counter...

1 Jan 2006 00:00:00

Darn. Only works on the first one on a page; I'll keep working on it...

EDIT: It's working now! Use as many as you want, and you can also put it in your signature...

OK folks, came up with another way to do this. If you don't want the seconds to count down live, use the countdown3 tag instead. Example code is below (the format is slightly different than the countdown code).

month=1&year=2006&day=01&hour=00&min=00&sec=00

substitute whatever date info you like, and just make sure the entire string is between COUNTDOWN3 and /COUNTDOWN3. Here is what that code produces:

month=1&year=2006&day=01

alex, the "ride countdown" displays properly in Firefox and Safari on Mac OS X.

IE for Mac seems to bomb every time I launch it....but using IE on a Mac is blasphemy anyway.

Thanks for testing Colin! Are you using the latest IE for the mac? The script is supposed to be compatible with IE 5.0 or later on all platforms (as well as Firefox, Opera, and pretty much all other standards-based browsers).

What do you mean it bombs, does that mean none of the page loads? or just the countdowns fail?

oops, sorry i wasn't more specific.

i can't get IE to load ANY pages, so i wasn't able to test it yet on the forum.
