For some folks, the MSMC forum may be the first online bulletin board that you've played with. We're really proud of this site, and it's always the first place that Ann and I check when we get online. But, there are quite a few other fun motorcycle forums out there, some based right here in the Bay Area as well, that get much more traffic. In some cases they have thousands of visitors rather than just a few dozen here, which of course means more posts, more content, and simply more to enjoy...

If you've read all you can here, you can't think of anything to post, yet you still want more for your motorcycling fix, I recommend giving these a shot:

South Bay Riders forum (http://www.southbayriders.com/forums/)
Bay Area Riders Forum (BARF) (http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/)
Pashnit Forum (http://pashnitforum.com/forum/)

SBR is run by a guy named Andy who lives on the Peninsula, and is a reasonably close-knit group of a few hundred folks. It's not a "club" as such, it's just a bunch of motorcyclists who found the board and enjoy posting and reading there. The board is generally intolerant of squids, unsafe riding, stunting, etc; but also has a bunch of folks into trackdays, AFM, sport-touring, etc. When I have a mechanical issue with a bike, I typically post it there and get a quick response. SBR has quite a few group rides, most weekends on Saturdays, and I've gone on a few (although I don't like that the vast majority of the rides are on the same roads on the peninsula like 35/84/9, etc).

BARF is quite a bit larger, but also has quite a bit more chaff to wade through. Many good posters, many interesting discussions, but also alot of "Hi, I'm 19, should I get the GSX-R1000 or a Kawasaki ZX-10 for my first bike, and which exhaust can is loudest?" Quite a few motorcycle dealership employees are on BARF, who can provide the ins and outs of getting the right price or service at which Bay Area dealership.

Pashnit is the guy that keeps the most thorough database of California motorcycling roads with pictures and detailed descriptions. He opened up a forum section on his website a few months back, and is up to a few thousand members already (many of them also cross-post on SBR and BARF, but I think Pashnit may be getting a wider audience geographically, as he has expanded his road database past California).

If you want even more content, there are other boards out there that focus on a certain type of motorycling, like:

adventure riding: advrider.com (http://www.advrider.com/forums/)
sport touring: sporttouring.net (http://www.sport-touring.net/cgi-bin/msgboard/ikonboard.cgi)

Then of course, there are the brand/model specific forums out there that can be incredibly helpful in tracking down an issue with your particular bike:

for my R6: r6messagenet.com (http://www.r6messagenet.com/forums/index.php?)
for my RT: bmwrt.com (http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php)
for Ann's 250: ninja250.org (http://forums.ninja250.org/viewforum.php?f=6)

and I'm sure there's a forum out there for just about any bike any of us might own...

So get out there and explore! And if you see anything out there on the other boards that you'd like to have on our MSMC board, let me know!

OK, so you got me to click around a bit and explore... None of the other sites are as good as our site! The Ninja 250 site formatting is also pretty horrible!

One of the sites I chat on (www.blatchat.com for Lotus Super Sevens) has NO ability to edit your post once it is up! ARGH! :( It drives me crazy! Since my spelling skilz are questionable I invariably need to fix something after I post.

Our site is AWESOME!! :thumbup :thumbup :cheers
