For sale: 1995 Ducati 900SS-SP

This is the bike that inspired "Song of the Sausage Creature" by Hunter S Thompson and is one of motoculture author Peter Egan's favorite motorcycles. Many consider it Ducati's best ever streetbike, and certainly the last of the great SS models.

The air-cooled, 2v desmo motor is reliable and full of soul.

This example is a rider's bike, not a garage queen.

It has >30k miles but has high, even compression and runs very, very well. With FCR41 flatslide carbs and carbon Arrow pipes it makes gobs of torque and is a fantastic street motor. The desmo valvetrain, pipes and dry clutch provide the signature Ducati sound. This is not a subtle motorcycle.

Cosmetically as one might expect for a 12 year old bike that has been enjoyed: some scratches here and there and a small dent in the tank. It currently wears the short CR-style fairings but a set of long SP fairings are also included.

Neat little details like engraved Cagiva elephants on the gas cap and wheels. The curve of the windscreen may have been the inspiration for the one on the factory GP bike.
