Any thoughts on the MotoGP race over the weekend? I haven't seen the 250 or 125 yet, but the premier class was very exciting.
Don't read any farther if you don't want to know details of the race.
I was thrilled to see Americans leading the first part of the race. Edwards got a very strong start, helped a bit by poor starts by Rossi and Gib.
But when Rossi started moving towards the front, that old sinking feeling returned. Hayden was running strong in the top 3 but never challenged for the lead, so it seemed inevitable he would fall back.
Rossi's move to the front was only eclipsed by Sete's, who like the Terminator was relentless, cutting .5s per lap or more off the leaders until he joined Edwards and Rossi in front.
A few laps of dicing among Colin, Vale and Sete was about as good as GP racing can get...as Hayden fell back farther to sixth.
Eventually, Sete and Rossi got past Colin and it was the same ol' story, with Sete never quite getting close enough to make a good challenge, and Rossi earning yet another victory...though he definitely earned this one.
Sete looked like he was gonna cry in the interview, and he and Vale both talked so much we didn't get to hear from Edwards.
So, race fans, is this race a microcosm for the rest of the season? Can Rossi be stopped? Do Edwards or Hayden have what it takes to run at the front for an entire race? Will Hopkins' luck ever get better? Will Ducati become competive again?
