Hi all -
It turns out I have an extra copy of City Navigator NT 2008 Update(US version). I thought I'd need it, so I opened it, but it turns out afterwards I can't use the NT version on one of my GPS's.
This is the right update for you if you have just about any of Garmin's units sold in the past 2 years with preloaded maps (nuvi, zumo, streetpilot, etc.). For a full list of compatible units, go to this page (http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/citynavnt.jsp) and review the compatibility list in the pull-down menu on the right. You can also go to this page (http://www8.garmin.com/unlock/update.jsp) and enter your device's serial number for absolute confirmation on which upgrades are compatible with that particular unit. Most of those that came preloaded with maps in the past year or two are likely, but if you had to initially load maps yourself from your computer, this update will only work if those prior maps unlocked for your GPS are of the City Navigator NT family (*not* the older City Navigator family). If you're unsure, just go into your GPS, hit setup, then maps, then view map info, and it will tell you which version is on your device. If you already only have the standard City Navigator maps on a device that is compatible with both Standard and NT, and would like to change to the NT family, you need to purchase the full NT disk from Garmin to make the switchover ($140, right at that compatibility link above), rather than this upgrade.
This update goes for $57 + tax/shipping on Amazon. I've already opened it so it just comes with the DVD case, but not the outside packaging, and I'll let it go for $40. I'll also be happy to answer questions and help get the update installed onto your PC and your GPS if you like. Please just send me a PM or post up in this thread if you have questions or would like to purchase the DVD.
(The unlock code on this software has never been entered or connected to any GPS. Awhile back, Garmin changed their unlock policies and now each individual license key is good for only 1 device, so if you do have more than one GPS you will need to purchase more than one update disk in order to push updated maps to both of your devices.)
