Lane splitting and CHP

I have checked the vehicle code and there is no new statutory prohibition nor mandated rules. Nonetheless, what is printed are guidelines written by the CHP and are worth reading and worth considering. One CAN be cited not for lane splitting but for reckless driving if you are not adhering to the new CHP guidelines. I believe there is a lot of room for interpretation, for example how wide is the area being split? Bottom line is the legislature did not pass any law that was signed by the Governor or went into effect because the Governor ignored the legislation. The article mentions lane splitting is illegal in every state except California. I am very suspicious that this is true. There is much truth that lane splitting under most stop and go circumstances is safer than being between two cars in that kind of traffic. I am sure all of us in the MSMC pull over as much as possible so as to not get jammed between the driver behind us not paying attention that traffic is stopped, and you are.

WE are finally close to having it legal in Nevada as well

AB 236 goes to the Floor of Nevada State Assembly and Senate for a vote to make it law effective Jan 1, 2014. Let's hope and pray they pass this one
